Alyssa W.: How to Save HUGE on Groceries
Coach: Hannah Dewey, Guilford Branch Manager
For ConneXfactor contestant Alyssa, August was a month of great improvement and recognition. Taking advantage of the nice weather, Alyssa and her wife took advantage of the many free activities in the area: the beach, family and friend cookouts, and outdoor events. By doing this, they were able to save money in their entertainment budget without sacrificing any of the fun!
During the month, Alyssa also followed the sales grocery challenge. The core idea of the challenge is to find items that are on sale and then build meals out of them, instead of looking up recipes and then buying the ingredients (which is what most people do). Alyssa found that her household’s monthly food expenses came in way under budget as a result of doing the challenge. She estimated that they saved almost $400 on groceries alone by the end of the month!
Throughout the ConneXfactor competition, Alyssa has been working hard to pull in extra commission from her job through sales. Over the past few months, her hard work and dedication has been noticed by her boss and she has received a raise to her regular paycheck. Alyssa already plans to use the extra funds to pay off her credit cards and student loans even faster.
With all the savings that took place last month, Alyssa has been able to make great strides towards her goals of putting funds aside for emergencies and to pay off her debts!
