Learn to LOVE Your Library!

love library

The other day, I asked a coworker if she had a heart-shaped cake pan that I could borrow (As a Resident Assistant at my school, I wanted to bake a festive Valentine’s Day cake for my residents). My coworker unfortunately did not have the pan, but informed me of the same dilemma that she ran into a few months prior for her son’s birthday party. Her son wanted a cake in the shape of Spongebob – my coworker is no Cake Boss, and therefore, she did some research and found that her local library rented out cake pans in the shapes of numerous characters – Elmo, Dora, Barney, Tigger, Spongebob – the list goes on! So sure enough, I went down to my local library, and checked out the heart shaped pan that I needed – free of charge! Needless to say, I am happy to know that my library can be used as a resource for activities beyond the books.

So as it turns out, the best things in life really are free! The public libraries surrounding Connex Credit Union branches offer the community some incredible deals! So put away your wallet, and enjoy some real free time with your family.  The libraries offer passes with discounts and/or free admission to some of these local venues: Beardsley Zoo, Imagine Nation Museum, Maritime Aquarium, Long Wharf Theater, CT Science Center, etc. In addition, many of the libraries host children’s programs, yoga classes, ACT/SAT prep for teens, movie showings, Wii tournaments, computer 101 sessions, musical performances and more!
