Celebrating Earth Day

earth day

Today is Earth Day. This is a day to promote and provide insight on how we all can make a difference in our environment. For this year’s celebrations, I have put together a few Earth Day related tips to help you save money while being green!

1. Go paperless.

Make the switch over to e-Statements! This will dramatically help reduce paper usage.

2. Drive Sensibly

According to U.S. Department of Energy, aggressive driving can waste gas. Braking and accelerating slower can lower gas mileage by 33% at highway speeds and 5% around town. With Connex Mobile Check Deposit, you can save gas by depositing your checks with your mobile phone instead of driving to the branch!

3. Use Energy Efficient Light Bulbs

The U.S. Department of Energy also suggests that you can save $50 a year by replacing 15 inefficient bulbs in your home with energy saving bulbs! Check out more tips on all the different types of energy efficient bulbs available.

4. Use Tap Water

Greenbenefits.org says that a 35 bottle flat costs $0.95 per gallon. Water from tap costs $0.002 per gallon! Save money by purchasing a water filtering system, like a Brita and cut out the cost of buying bottled water. Also consider purchasing a reusable water bottle to reduce the use of plastic bottles.

These are only a few of the many great ways you can help the environment while saving money! How will you participate in Earth Day this year?  Please share and comment below.
